C-ON review...

Blessed Christmas to all!

While this is still fresh in my head...

just watched chronicles of naria. overall the storyline n major events are well covered in the movie - probably 90% there...

I like the part when the professor questions peter & susan whether they believe in lucy - "If she's isnt lying or crazy, then the most logical thing we must assume that she is telling the truth". some where along that line'. Although this much condensed in the movie.

The opening in Mere Christianity (if my memory doesnt fail me) mentioned something similiar.

You'll have to read the Chronicles to truely appreciate the writings of CS Lewis. holly wood can only do this much, plus the fact its all about awards, box offices, and suriviving in the media world....

===============

couple of people talking about how close the themes are with the bible, some with concerns certain stuff are not biblical.

Dear Disappointed: Although the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is definitely allegorical in nature, anyone looking for a one-to-one allegory of the gospel will be sorely disappointed. I'm curious to know what you mean about Christians becoming fairy tale followers. Do you think we're focusing too much on movies and stories? Personally, I think the problems arise when we look on stories like this as "witnessing tools" rather than simply enjoying them for what they are. They may lead to spiritual discussions, and they may not. But they definitely awaken a hunger to experience a reality beyond our own. And that's exciting.

The main concern is then not so much whether this movie/book is biblical. its about how we think the media should be presented. As much as how we unconsciencely force a form of responsiblity that a celebrity should have, we force the same kind of responsiblity on movies or media in general.

Also, most have forgotten the intention of the writer. There's a constant comparison between LTOR and C-ON, however bear in mind that while both writers have influence on each other lives, they wrote with different interest. Some has speculated LTOR was written with Toklien's experience in the war. C-ON was write as bedtime stories for 4 children CS Lewis was taking care of during the war.

I dont think there's anything worth here to have a aboslute right or wrong (i.e to endorse as a christian movie or not). the whole point is not reach to a point to say whether this is biblical. it is to reach to a point to see that media is not a means to an end.

*** Overall, this is one great movie. nevermind that i've read the book - they managed to bring out the spirit of C-ON exteremly well.

Pardon my spelling mistakes. its 4am for goodness sake...
